How I Started
From Etsy Shop to a Life-Changing Realization
My entrepreneurial journey began in 2014 with a simple Etsy shop selling custom phone cases, but things got real when a Target representative contacted me with an order for 22,000 phone cases. It was a huge opportunity, but I had to turn it down because I lacked the financial knowledge and resources to scale up production.
That experience was a turning point. I realized the potential of an e-commerce business, but also the urgent need for financial literacy. Why? Because I wasn’t aware of how to leverage personal and business credit for funding, which limited my access to capital and limited my business growth.
The Leap into Selling on Amazon
Fast forward to 2018, I launched my own Amazon business, selling my branded greeting cards. My goal was to create a flexible business model that allowed me to free up my time and manage it as I’d like.
In 2019, I expanded into wholesale (reselling brand name products), and within 1.5 years, our business grew to $2.2 million in annual revenue.
During this time, I also began a side hustle consulting and coaching aspiring business owners. Honestly, this is when I truly understood the importance of smart money management. I was personally working to pay off around $53,000 in old debt, realizing how much more I could have achieved had I invested those funds wisely.
Learning to Make Smart Choices with Money
In between time, this realization led me to an opportunity to co-create WealthPlan™, a financial literacy program designed to empower everyday people to learn how to invest their hard-earned money responsibly.
